About HealthEd for Everyone

Making health information clear and useful for all

Why We're Here

Clear health information can save lives. But most patient materials are hard to follow. Even people who understand medical writing can struggle when they are sick or scared. When health information is unclear, people may experience:

  • Worse health

  • Harder time getting the right medical care

  • Less control over your care

  • Getting treatments that you regret

  • More deaths that could be prevented (1)

Quick Facts

  • Most Americans have trouble understanding medical information (2)

  • Many Europeans don't understand essential health materials (3)

  • Most health websites are written at high school or college level, making them hard for most people to understand (4)

  • Patient materials rarely include pictures (5)

  • Most instructions don't explain what to do next (6)

  • Many resources don't account for varied communication needs and backgrounds (7)

Our Goal

We want to make health information accessible to everyone. This includes:

  • Writing in plain language

  • Using helpful pictures

  • Summarizing and digesting complex topics

  • Suggesting next steps

  • Working with users to make our tools better and understand their needs

  • Integrate tools for emotional wellbeing

Our Team

These goals drive our diverse team of healthcare providers, educators, designers, and engineers who are passionate about making health information clear and accessible for everyone.
